A Clark County woman and her boyfriend were arrested after her two sons were allegedly tied up and beaten with a belt and an electrical cord.

Anna Camacho, 29, of 4750 Paris Road, and 23-year-old Juan Maldondo were both charged Wednesday afternoon with fourth-degree assault, first-degree criminal abuse and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.

The boys, ages 6 and 9, told sheriff’s deputies that Maldondo used rope to tie their wrists together, which were then held over their head, forcing them to stand on their tip toes. They said Maldondo then used a belt and a cell phone charger cord to assault them.

The two boys, ages 6 and 9, first reported the situation to their school counselors on May 12, Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. said.

The information was relayed to state social workers, who requested assistance from the sheriff’s office on Wednesday, he said.

“Ms. Camacho said she witnessed the children being tied up by her boyfriend but failed to stop him,” Perdue said.

Camacho told deputies the incident occurred on the enclosed front porch of the residence.

The boys also told deputies Camacho tied them up and beat them once before, according to the incident report.

Both boys had injuries to their arms and legs though they did not appear fresh, deputies said. One boy said he also had an injury to his buttocks, but refused to show deputies or social workers.

A third child, a girl, also lived in the home but showed no injuries, deputies said. All three were removed from the home and placed in the custody of state social workers.

Deputies recovered the phone charger, but said the rope was thrown away.

Maldondo was living with Camacho on Paris Road but does not have a driver’s license or a Social Security number, deputies wrote.

Both are scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Clark District Court. According to the Clark County Detention Center website, both are held on a $5,000 cash bond.

First-degree criminal abuse is a felony with a sentence of five to 10 years in prison upon conviction. The other charges are misdemeanors.
