The second person charged with assault from a recent altercation pleaded guilty Wednesday afternoon to a reduced charge.

Mark Mooney, 53, of 70 Melbourne St., was arrested and charged with second-degree assault following a May 18 fight, as was 26-year-old Cody Jones of 32 Sylvania Ave.

Thursday, Mooney pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of fourth-degree assault and sentenced to 90 days with 78 of those conditionally discharged.

Jones pleaded guilty to the same charge last week but received 180 days with 166 conditionally discharged.

Police said Mooney is the father of Jones’ girlfriend and the two got into a fight at Jones’ residence. Jones was armed with a knife and Mooney had a baseball bat, according to court documents. Both had injuries consistent with the other’s weapon.
