A Clark County man accused of kidnapping and raping a woman nearly a year ago now has a September trial date.

Jeffrey Oliver Rowland, 50, of 460 Lisletown Court, has been incarcerated since his arrest Aug. 4, 2016, following a multi-county search.

Thursday afternoon, the judge set a Sept. 18 trial for Rowland, who is charged with first-degree rape, kidnapping, violation of an EPO/DVO and theft by deception for the incident last year.

According to police, the woman escaped from Rowland at the Love’s truck stop near Interstate 75 in Madison County and contacted an employee for help.

She told police Rowland gagged her, tied her up and tortured her for several hours against her will. During the investigation, police found an active domestic violence order against Rowland preventing violent contact. Police also determined the woman had been raped.

Rowland was ultimately arrested in Lexington later that day and has been in jail on a $100,000 bond since.

Prosecutors estimated the trial would take four days.
