James Edward NeSmith

James Edward NeSmith of Mt. Sterling passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Baptist Health in Lexington.

He was born November 8, 1937, in Priceville, Alabama, to Enoch and Erin NeSmith. He lived in Alabama until 1949, when his family moved to Detroit, Michigan. He served his country in the US Navy from 1955 to 1957. He worked for Chevrolet Gear and Axle in Detroit from 1958 to 1972. After a brief time in construction, he received an opportunity to move to Winchester, Kentucky to work for Rockwell International as a production supervisor. He was there from 1973 to 1987. After leaving Rockwell International, he worked as a truck driver for Bob’s Food Service and Ryder Integrated Logistics. He retired due to health issues in 1997.

Jim is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Todd (Jennifer); grandchildren, Sara and Alex; nephew, Jimmy Payne; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Payne of Alabama.
