Want to become more involved in the community and learn about all the exciting things going on here? The Winchester Clark County Chamber of Commerce wants you!

Leadership Winchester is a program designed to promote the community by facilitating an awareness of the many facets of life here. It also helps empower people to become more actively engaged and develop into leaders in the community.

“The Leadership Winchester program can also become an opportunity for a person to find a place in the community where they can contribute their time or talents,” organizers say. “During each class session, we will emphasize leadership and volunteer positions in our community.”

Starting in September, participants are required to attend one monthly, day-long session from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. over an eight-month period. Areas of study during the sessions are Quality of Life, Health & Human Services, Education, Economic Development, Local and State Government and Agribusiness. Participants will visit city and county offices as well as industrial and commercial businesses in Winchester.

Those interested can apply for the 2017-2018 Leadership Winchester Class by visiting the chamber’s website or stopping by the office.

It isn’t free, but is designed to be affordable.

Anyone considering participating in this should look at it as investment in yourself and in the community’s future prosperity.

Programs like these are successful in many communities and graduates almost universally walk away feeling rewarded and enriched with a better understanding of the community and how an individual can fit in to make a difference.

Those benefits are truly priceless for those who want to help Winchester and Clark County achieve its greatest potential.
