Bingo returns for Sip and Stroll

Downtown Winchester is about to get busy again with the return of the annual Sip and Stroll next week.

Main Street Winchester Director Rachel Alexander said earlier this week that 18 businesses and five wineries are scheduled to participate in the annual event.

“I wouldn’t doubt that number will grow before next Thursday,” she said. “For any event like this, we usually have between 18 and 22.”

Many of those downtown businesses will have special sales and promotions from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, Alexander said. Other businesses will be coming from outside Winchester, like Lexington’s North Lime Coffee and Donuts, she said.

Anyone who attends has a chance to win one of several prizes from merchants, if they complete a bingo card. Players can fill squares by visiting businesses or other tasks such as posting on social media using a specific hashtag, she said.

“(The prizes) range from a gift of merchandise to gift cards,” Alexander said. “Each business has chosen to do something a little unique, which is perfect because all of our businesses are unique.”

The bingo element debuted during last year’s event.

“It was hugely successful and it was a lot of fun,” Alexander said. “We collected the cards and got to meet a lot of people. Some people were very familiar (with downtown) and some hadn’t been downtown in a long time.”

Winners will be chosen at random from those who submit completed cards, she said, and will be notified following the event.
