On Aug. 25, Community Bible Study will once again convene. The location this year will be at the Grace Baptist Church, 5990 Lexington Road.

It is a weekly gathering of women and young children who meet on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to learn more about the Bible. This year, the non-denominational study will focus on the book of Genesis. Last year the focus was on the book of Romans.

When I began last year, I felt like I had a pretty good knowledge of Romans but soon found out how little I actually knew. I learned so much and found out how to really study the Bible in a new and detailed way.

The fellowship was great. I was amazed at how quickly I bonded with complete strangers in my group to become a sisterhood or community of fellow believers of the Bible. We became close  friends as we gleaned knowledge form one another in our learning about the Bible.

No one felt dumb by inquiring or stating our point of view on any subject we discussed. We felt comfortable with one another even though we came from different churches and different backgrounds. We soon learned we all were so alike with some of the same needs and concerns.

I really need to acknowledge that Community Bible Study does not just happen. Much prayer and work has been done before that first meeting by teams of dedicated women who have one goal in mind: to further the word of God so that our community will be a better place for us to live.

No one is coerced into doing anything in these meetings, but the hope is only the love of God shines through.

Mothers can bring their children and know it is a safe place for them to be, since every worker has passed a background check. The mothers can leave their children in capable hands where they can play and learn about God in their own group.

I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this wonderful program.

I am inviting the ladies of Clark County and adjoining counties to join us this year for Community Bible Study. It is a very rewarding experience and I feel you will be glad you decided to come.

Remember the opening day is Aug. 25. Come and join us and see what you have been missing. Bring a friend along with you. You will not want to keep this to yourself.
