A Winchester man charged with biting his child sent his case before the grand jury.

Chuck G. Webb, 32, of 225 Oxford Drive, Apt. 52, was charged with one count of first-degree criminal abuse after officials at the child’s preschool noticed the injury.

According to court documents, workers at the preschool noticed a bite mark on the child’s face along with bruises on the child’s arm and torso, before calling social workers. The child told authorities that Webb caused the injuries, and said he squeezed his head and bit his face.

Webb told police the bruises were caused when he tried to grab the child when it fell in the shower. He also said he saw the bite mark when the child’s mother pointed it out, but could not explain how it got there.

Webb remains in the Clark County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
