Winchester native returns home to open cabinet store

For Eugene Miller, moving to Winchester and opening the Bluegrass Cabinet Store was more than just an entrepreneurial move, it was a homecoming.

Miller, who was born and raised in Winchester, said he spent many years working in manufacturing and had to leave town for work.

“I came back to be with family,” Miller said. “My daughter just had our first grandchild, so I wanted to move closer.”

Miller said he saw a need for a cabinet store upon his return to Clark County, particularly one that could serve the immediate community and the counties to the east, where homeowners have fewer options outside of Lexington.

The Bluegrass Cabinet Store offers a wide variety of kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, many of which are on display in a showroom at 816 Bypass Road next to Katie Tire. Miller said he chose the location, which formerly housed Wolfe’s Bakery Outlet, because it offered a good arrangement of space for a showroom and warehouse.

Miller said he will meet with clients to get measurements of the space they are buying for and put together a conceptual design for free.

“I’ll measure window openings, the size of the sink and those sorts of things,” Miller said. “Then there’s a program I can put the information in to show the customer a rendering of what the finished product will look like.”

Miller said he doesn’t do installation himself, but if requested by a customer he works with several local contractors to install the pieces.

The Bluegrass Cabinet Store is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Customers can contact Miller to set up an appointment over the phone at (859) 644-5015 or via email at sales@bluegrasscabinetstore.com.
