Apps are bonus for busy parents

In a tech-obsessed world dominated by the constant pressure to stay busy, it is increasingly difficult for parents to keep up with it all.

From work to home, school and extracurriculars, parents will certainly appreciate anything that helps keep them and their families organized, on task and up to date.

Thankfully, several Clark County schools recently unveiled a way for parents to communicate with teachers and administrators, and keep up with important information, all in the palm of their hands.

Campbell Junior High School, Baker Intermediate School, Shearer Elementary and Conkwright Elementary have partnered with A+ Apps to create a specialized app for each school.

The apps allow staff to post calendars of upcoming events, display the lunch menu, post photos and even send out notifications and announcements to parents.

Imagine how convenient it would be to receive a reminder Sunday evening that picture day is the following day, or to get a notification from your child’s teacher that a spelling test is coming up. If your child isn’t fond of Wednesday’s menu, you can know in advance that you need to pack a lunch. And, if your young student forgets their homework, just pull up the app and discover their reading assignment for the evening.

The app also creates a way for parents to get a glimpse at their child’s school day through photos of them engaged in the classroom.

To download the app for Android, search the name of the school. For iPhone, search the app store for A+ the school app, then select the school of choice from the list of schools using the app.

It’s an unfortunate reality many people find themselves using their phone nearly every waking hour of the day, whether for business or pleasure.

However, it is great to see schools and administrators looking for ways to make it easier for parents and guardians to be involved and on top of all their children have going on at school.

Parent involvement is an integral part of success in the classroom. This app adds significantly to a parent’s ability to remain in-the-know and involved in their child’s education.

Hopefully, other schools in the district can implement apps for parents and even older students to use as a tool to keep up with assignments and important deadlines and manage their calendars.
