John Paul Moore, 70

Judge John Paul Moore, 70, of Winchester, Kentucky, husband of Ruth Anne Fleming Moore, entered every lasting life on Saturday, November 11, 2017.

He was born in Lexington, KY on December 20, 1946 to the late Joseph Paul Moore and Gertrude Michael Moore. He is graduate of Lafayette High School and was a member of 1963 and 1964 State High School Championship track team. He is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky College of Law.

Following his law school graduation, he entered private practice in Winchester, Kentucky. He served for 26 years as District Court Judge in Clark and Madison County. Following his retirement from the bench, he continued his passion for helping others by operating Moore’s Mediation. He was an active member of the Kentucky Bar Association and Clark and Madison Bar Associations. He and his wife of 51 years were faithful followers of Christ and members of Crossroads Christian Church, Lexington.

Judge Moore is survived by his wife, daughters Tammy Moore Thompson (Paul), of Huntersville, NC, Jennifer Moore Bryant (J.P.), Laura Moore Busson (Brent), and Susan Moore Monohan (Greg), all of Lexington. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Tyler John Busson, Blake Busson, Logan Busson, Amelia Monohan, Harper Moore Monohan, Sylvia Monohan, Davis Bryant, John Paul Bryant, and Jackson Moore Bryant, all of Lexington and a great-grandson, William Thompson of Huntersville, NC. Living siblings include Elaine Moore, Lexington, and Charles James Moore (Martha), Seabrook Island, SC, and Brother In Law, Robert W. Fleming (Lila), Lexington, Sister in Law, Debra Noel Fleming, Lexington. He was blessed to have many wonderful nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Loraine Moore Rose (David), his brother William Joseph Moore, (Sue) and brother in law, Kermin Elliott (Ike) Fleming.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14th, from 5-8 pm at Scobee Funeral Home, at 219 West Lexington Avenue, Winchester, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15th at 11 am at First United Methodist Church of Lexington, 200 West High Street, Lexington, Kentucky. Services will be conducted by Rev. Todd Nelson, Rev. Paul B. Thompson and Rev. Glen Schneiders. Burial at Lexington Cemetery to follow.

Pallbearers shall include the following: Judge Moore’s sons-in-law, Brent Busson, J.P. Bryant and Greg Monohan; Brother-in-law Robert Fleming; Family friend, Gary Allen; Nephews, David Rose, Paul Rose, Joe Moore, William J. Moore, Robert A. (Drew) Fleming, and Kermin Elliott Fleming.

Honorary Pallbearers shall include Gardner Wagers, John Keeton, Charles Harold Moore, Members of the Clark County and Madison County Bar Association.
