Mary Eleanor Knox “Bebe” Fox age 101 of Winchester, Kentucky passed away peacefully on November 12, 2017.

Mrs. Fox was born on July 23, 1916 in Lexington, Kentucky the daughter of William Morgan Knox and Delitha Eleanor Brogle Knox. She was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Carr, her only first cousin, Victor Abnee who died November 4, 2017.

She was a longtime resident of Winchester, Kentucky, where she was a member of First Baptist until she joined Calvary Baptist in Lexington where she was a member of the Bykota Sunday School Class.

The loving wife to former Mayor Charles Eldon Fox for 61 years. He preceded her in death in 1997. Bebe was an inspiration to all of her family and friends, always putting a smile on their face. Whenever someone asked about the secret to her longevity, she would answer, “Put your faith in Christ and don’t spend any time worrying.” She loved classical music and spent the last ten years of her life performing Tai Chi for exercise. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, dancing and music and family filled her life with joy.

Bebe is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor Kelly and Tom of Lexington; a son Charles Eldon “Sonny” Fox, Jr. and wife Sharon of Greenwood, South Carolina; a deceased daughter Susan Shearer and her husband, David, of Winchester; seven grandchildren: Todd Kelly and wife Cynthia, Dee Lawless and Chad Kelly, all of Lexington, Chas Fox and wife, Anna Graham, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, Noelle Kiernan and husband, Mike, of Blairsville, Georgia, Melissa Thorsland and husband, John, of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Erica Wlotko and husband, A.J., of Louisville, Kentucky; also 18 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren who cherish her legacy. She has 7 living nieces.

Bebe inherited her love for the theater and music from her mother who was an organist at Calvary Baptist Church for 31 years and her father was first violinist in the Cincinnati Symphony under Max Rudolph.

The family wishes to thank Bluegrass Hospice Caregivers, Patty, James, Dave, Julia and Hank Ellington, Holly VanMeter, Lucinda Hougland, Marilyn Fightmaster and Calvary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Lexington, First Baptist Church of Winchester or Bluegrass Hospice Care.

Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 am, Monday, December 4th at Calvary Baptist Church. Funeral will follow at 11:00 am at the church.
