A Winchester man was arrested Thursday morning after police executed a search warrant after he received explicit images of juveniles.

Ryan W. Mayer, 21, of 714 Estes Drive, was charged with one count each of tampering with physical evidence, prohibited use of electronic communications systems to procure a minor for sex and use of a minor in a sexual performance.

According to court records, Lexington police began the investigation in July after a parent of a female juvenile told police the girl was “induced” into sending a nude photo of herself to a person through Instagram. After officers executed warrants for Instagram and Charter Communications, they tracked the IP address of the Instagram account to 714 Estes Drive in Winchester.

Lexington police also accessed the Instagram account and found nude images of what appeared to be nude female juveniles and one of male genitalia.

Thursday, Winchester Police officers executed a search warrant at the residence for electronic devices. According to the warrant, Mayer was in the home at the time, with one shattered cell phone nearby and pieces of glass from it in his hand. In all, officers confiscated seven cell phones, three hard drives, two video cameras, two tablet computers and a laptop computer, among other items.

During the search, officers also identified one of the rooms in the residence as the one where the image of the male genitalia was taken.

Mayer was lodged in the Clark County Detention Center. A bond has not been set yet, according to the jail website.
