Clifton Richard “Rick” Smith, 66

Clifton Richard “Rick” Smith, 66, husband of Suzy Fockele Smith, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Louisville, KY, on April 13, 1951, to Josephine Shanahan Smith and the late Dr. C.R. Smith. He graduated from Clark County High in 1969 and had an animal science degree from University of Kentucky. He was a lifelong farmer, manager of Stoney Brook Farm and a steward of the land. He was a member of Clark County and Kentucky Cattleman’s Association. He was a President of Kentucky Association of Counties and served as past president and board member of the Kentucky Magistrate and Commissioner’s Association. He served as a Clark County Magistrate and Clark County Commissioner for 25 years. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 75. He was a deacon and an elder of First Christian Church.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Dr. Rex (Janna) Smith and their children, Reagan and Clay Smith; Rich (Penny) Smith and their children, Tyler and Cole Smith; two sisters, Lynn (Porter) Roberts and Deborah (Miller) Hoffman. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Stephen Smith.

Services will be at 1:00PM, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at First Christian Church by Rev. Jerry Johns. Burial will be private in Winchester Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Fred Pace, John Stotts, Gene Culton, Vincent Rosenthal, Steve Adams, Bob Napier, David Hubbard and Robert Baldwin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lee Kerr, Mark Swartz, Porter Roberts and Miller Hoffman.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00AM until time of service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Clark County Animal Shelter, 5000 Ironworks Road, Winchester, KY. 40391.
