Margaret Ellen “Peg” Walthour

Margaret Ellen “Peg” Walthour, of Winchester, formerly of Flatwoods, beloved wife of 67 years of Clarence “Bud” Walthour passed away January 16, 2018.

She was born April 17, 1932 in Greensburg, PA to the late Lawrence and Ruth Carnes Keough. She was preceded in death by five siblings, Gail Keough, Linda Belbin, Ruth Williamson, Tom Keough and Steve Keough, and a grandson, Benjamin Potter.

Peg was an original employee of the Russell, KY Hill’s Department store. After retiring she volunteered her time at Hillcrest-Bruce Mission and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church of Bellefonte and attended First Presbyterian church of Winchester. Peg was also a member of the Grassland Community Church family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed participating in book clubs and Bible studies.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one sister, Laurie (Tom) Hart of The Villages, Florida and three children, Kathy (Harry) Simpson of Irmo, SC, Rev Dave Walthour of Enfield, NH and Cyndi (Mike) Downing of Winchester, KY with whom she resided. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Matthew (Jenny) Potter of Irmo, SC, Alli Ford of Lexington, Grace (Andrew) Best of Totnes England, John (Erin) Walthour of Grantham, NH, Marli Downing of Corbin, KY, Luke Walthour of Burlington, VT, Four Great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 20 at 12:30 PM at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens by Rev. Stewart Schnieder and Rev. Ryan Bradney.
