The city of Winchester got a glowing report from auditors for fiscal year 2017.

Tom Sparks of Summers, McCrary and Sparks told the Winchester Board of Commissioners he found no issues of non-compliance or other problems during a special meeting Friday morning.

“That’s the cleanest report an auditor can issue,” Sparks said.

Sparks said the city was in good financial shape and that revenue had increased because of payroll tax revenue, and grants the city received.

The audit was also clean regarding federal funds and programs, Sparks said.

“This is a significant thing for the city,” Winchester Mayor Ed Burtner said.
