Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said officers are investigating a shooting that occurred on First Street at around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

He said officers responded to reports of a shooting victim at the Dollar General store on Lexington Avenue. He said the victim of a shooting that occurred near the Tyler Banks apartments was fleeing from the scene when his vehicle stalled and was involved in an accident.

Hall said the victim was transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He said a female who was also in the car was transported to Clark Regional Medical Center to be treated for unspecified injuries. Both are Winchester residents, but police have not released their names.

Hall said officers are still investigating the motive of the shooting and no arrests have been made.

“We are interviewing several people who we hope can give us information that might lead to an arrest,” Hall said.
