The Winchester Sun added two new employees this week to bolster its news and sports coverage efforts.

Micah Satterly, 23, started Monday as a general assignment news reporter and Will Borland, 23, will begin next week as a sports reporter.

“I welcome Micah and Will to the team, as I know the Clark County community will as well,” said Michael Caldwell, publisher of The Winchester Sun. “Each of them bring different skills and perspectives to the table. I look forward to helping them grow as journalists and maximizing all our talents to best serve our readers.”

Satterly, a native of Danville, graduated in December from Campbellsville University.

“I’ve always had a passion for writing,” Satterly said. “I always looked forward to writing stories and personal narratives. I had other interests but as I got older, this became something worth pursuing.”

Satterly wrote for his university newspaper and also freelanced for The Advocate-Messenger in Danville prior to starting at the Sun.

His primary responsibilities will include covering local schools and the business community as well as other assignments.

“I don’t think one story’s more important than another,” he said.

Borland, a 23-year-old Midway native, is the Sun’s new sports reporter. A December graduate of Northern Kentucky University, Borland started writing while in college.

“When I was at NKU, I got recommended by a friend to write sports for the college paper,” he said. “I really enjoyed it.”

Borland’s responsibilities will include covering all local sports including at the schools, though he said basketball is a favorite to cover.

“I did a lot of that at NKU and I love watching UK basketball,” he said.
