Detectives confiscated cocaine and cash as part of a six-month investigation leading to the arrest of a Bourbon County woman Monday.

Local charges are anticipated against 47-year-old Linda McClain of North Middletown, following her arrest Monday in Winchester. Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Craycraft said the sheriff’s office was contacted Monday by a regional drug enforcement task force which had been investigating McClain for several months. McClain was living at Springmist Apartments on Winn Avenue, Craycraft said, where officers found her Monday.

Craycraft said they confiscated 32 grams of crack cocaine, $1,600 in cash and a .22 caliber handgun.

More arrests are expected as McClain is suspected to be part of a group trafficking oxycodone and cocaine through Bourbon, Clark and Harrison counties, Craycraft said.

McClain was charged in Bourbon County with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. Charges are pending in Clark County, he said.

“These drugs are still coming into Clark County,” Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. said. “Through these arrests in other counties and hitting them where it hurts, keeping (the drugs) our of Clark County. You don’t always have to arrest them here to keep the drugs out.”
