Two Clark County parents have been arrested on murder charges after their son died from neglect, malnutrition and dehydration.

Albert Christy, 61, and Patsy Christy, 65, of 340 Schoolhouse Lane, were arrested Monday afternoon following interviews with detectives at the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Their, son, 20-year-old Logan Christy, died Dec. 12, 2017. An autopsy determined Logan weighed 61 pounds, was severely dehydrated and malnourished, and had pneumonia, Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. said. Logan also had Down syndrome.

Perdue said detectives were waiting on the medical examiner’s autopsy report before filing charges against the parents. Both were interviewed Monday, Perdue said.

“The best we could get out of them was they did the best they could, as far as taking care of the young man,” Perdue said.

In the warrants, detectives said Logan’s room at the residence was nearly uninhabitable and he was only given fluids from a sippy cup. Perdue said Logan had not had insurance or medical care in two years.

“It’s a heart-breaking case,” Perdue said,” because its very preventable. It’s a case of pure neglect.”

Albert Christy and Patsy Christy are each being held on a $1 million cash bond in the Clark County Detention Center. They are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Clark District Court.
