An Owensboro teen is facing multiple charges after leading Winchester Police on a pursuit down Lexington Avenue.

Arthur Bangs, 18, was arrested early Monday morning after crashing into a police cruiser and ending up near Applebees.

According to court records, Bangs was traveling west on West Lexington Avenue around 12:51 a.m. Monday without headlights. Officers turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle but it continued west, crossing the center line several times and swerving toward another Winchester Police cruiser.

The car ran over stop sticks, which damaged its tires, but continued through a red light at the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Bypass Road before spinning around near Winchester Plaza.

The car then struck a third WPD cruiser, and stayed in contact with it until they stopped in front of Applebees, according to the arrest citation. Officers turned off the car and removed Bangs through the passenger side door.

Bangs told officers he had been up for four days and had taken meth the day before. He said he didn’t stop because he was scared.

Bangs was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, disregarding a traffic control device, failure to illuminate headlamps, first-degree criminal mischief, driving under the influence and no operator’s license. He is being held on a $7,500 bond in the Clark County Detention Center.
