— Administrative Hearing Board meeting, 5:30 pm., at Winchester City Hall, 32 Wall St.

— Bluegrass Heritage Museum Second Thursday program, 6:30 p.m. at 217 S. Main St. Speaker will be Matthew Davidson, archaeologist of the Cumberland district of the Daniel Boone National Forest in Morehead, discussing iron furnaces. Davidson has a doctorate degree in anthropology from University of Kentucky. His Ph.D. project covered subjects hide processing, regional exchange of exotic ornaments (copper and shell beads), and the colonial European fur trade. On the Daniel Boone National Forest Matt has shifted his focus to a broader array of cultural resources including the historic iron production and gunpowder industries and Native American rock art and rock shelter use and interaction between Native Americans and early settlers during the 1700s. The program is free. — Spring gardening class, “Heirloom peppers from seed to plate,” 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Clark County Public Library. Information for starting even the finickiest pepper seeds from scratch at home, including best seed sources for

both hot and sweet varieties and recommendations for

starting, fertilizing and saving seeds. Includes recipes

for using your garden’s bounty, too! Five packets of heirloom pepper seeds and two pepper seedlings for all workshop participants. Register in advance by calling 744-5661.

— Colonial culinary workshop, 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Fort Boonesborough Park museum blockhouse. Event launches new series from from Fort Boonesborough Foundation called “Colonial Culinary Workshops: History in the Tasting.” Part hands-on cooking class, part history lesson, event is open to a limited number of guests who will participate in preparation of a multi-course 1700s dinner. — “Save a Life” hosted by Beacon of Hope Emergency Shelter, 7 p.m. at 850 Bypass Road. Community forum to educate and prevent opiate and heroin-related overdoses, including Narcan training. Anyone completing the Narcan training receives a free Narcan kit. Event is free and open to the public.

SUNDAY, MARCH 11

— Saving A Life: Overdose Prevention 101, community forum to educate and prevent opiate and heroin related overdoses, 7 p.m. at Cairn Coffee House, 17 S. Main St. Includes agree Narcan training. Learn about overdose causes and prevention, intervention to save a life and how to use Narcan, a overdose reversal drug. Anyone completing the training will receive a free Narcan kit. There will be more than 60 employers on site. Admission is free. Bring resume and dress to impress. Veterans welcome. Door prizes will be given. Sponsors include Catalent Pharma Solutions, Freeman Corporation, Amazon, The Winchester Sun, Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce, Adecco, Clark County Public Schools, Gateway Radio Works, Kentucky Career Center, Aaron’s Fairway Leasing and Bluegrass Workforce Investment Board.
