Elmer Woodson “E.W.” Haggard, 83, of Winchester, husband of Betty Jean Dixon Haggard, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2016 at Clark Regional Medical Center.

Elmer was born on June 10, 1934 in Clark County to the late Roy and Sadie Brock Haggard. He was retired from G.T.E. Sylvania where he worked as a mechanic. He was a member of the Winchester Fish & Game Club, attended Heritage Baptist Church and was a member of Alansville Baptist Church.

In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, survivors include, one daughter, Cindy Kaye Shearer; one grandson, Christopher Michael Shearer and his wife, Dr. Holly Hatton Shearer; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Catherine Shearer and Lucy Claire Shearer; two brothers, Roy Haggard, Jr (Suzanne Ballard), Glenn Haggard (Kay True); three sisters, Janetta Calico, Donna Ferguson and Trudy McKinney (Isaac); one brother-in-law, Lester Dixon (Angie). He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Haggard and Billy Haggard; one sister, Lucille Wilder; three brothers-in-law, Wib Ferguson, Denny Calico and Gilbert Wilder; one sister-in-law, Ann Haggard.

Services will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, March 9, 2018 at Scobee Funeral Home by Tim Christopher and Dan Ferguson. Burial will follow in the Winchester Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris Shearer, Garlan Haggard, Jr., Jamie Haggard, Dodd Dixon, Scott Haggard, Mike Johnson, Eddie McKinney.

Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
