If international travel is on tap for the coming months, it’s time to make sure passports are current and up to date.

If they aren’t, the Winchester Post Office is hosting a passport fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Susan Wright of the U.S. Postal Service said people will be able to submit their applications, and have photos taken if needed, without making an appointment. Wright said there will be additional staff on site Saturday to help process applications.

“They need to bring a photo ID and a certified copy of their brith certificate and passport photos,” Wright said. “They can do passport photos at the time for an additional charge.”

It doesn’t take much time to apply for a passport, but waiting for the passport to arrive can take weeks.

“The actual appointment takes no more than 15 minutes,” she said. “The State Department can take up to six weeks to send the passport. If you’re doing any travel this summer, I’d recommend getting your passport as soon as possible.”

Passports for adults older than 16 are $110 for a book, $30 for a passport card or $140 for both. For those younger than 16, passport cards are $15 and the books are $80.
