Our View: Chamber event open to anyone

Put it on your calendar now, May 17 offers a great opportunity to support the business community and learn more about the organization that works extremely hard to provide resources and opportunities for that business community to grow.
The Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual awards dinner that night at the Wainscott Building, 25 Wainscott Avenue. The reception will be at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $55 for an individual or a corporate table of 10 for $500.
The biggest misconception of this event is that you have to be a chamber member to attend.
That couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The event is open to anyone. In fact, it is a great opportunity for a business or organization thinking about joining the chamber or just wanting to learn more about what the organization offers members.
The event, which attracted approximately 300 people last year, is also a tremendous networking opportunity that allows business owners to talk to their peers about successes, challenges and ways to potentially collaborate.
The value of this certainly should not be overlooked.
One of the primary factors why businesses fail is owners simply don’t have the resources or support system needed to overcome challenges.
We applaud executive director Cindy Banks, her hard-working staff and board members and all the members who support this organization for all the work that goes into this annual event.
Hope to see you there!
