Clark man charged in fatal crash in Fayette

A Winchester man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly struck and killed a Fayette County woman as she walked along Leestown Road.

Michael Ray King, 45, was charged Thursday night with felony leaving the scene of an accident, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Court officials said King was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Fayette District Court. As a felony, the judge can enter an automatic not-guilty plea and schedule a preliminary hearing to establish probable cause at a later date.

According to the Fayette County Detention Center, King is being held on a $10,000 bond.

The incident happened shortly after noon Thursday on Leestown Road near the Scott County line. According to police, a 46-year-old woman was walking to move her garbage cans when she was struck by a white SUV. Witness said the vehicle veered off the road before continuing away from the scene.

The victim, identified as 46-year-old Stevonn Page, was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s office.

King was located in Scott County Thursday afternoon and detained for an interview by police.
