WMU reschedules ‘Spring Clean Day’

Winchester Municipal Utilities (WMU) has rescheduled its Spring Clean Day to Saturday, May 5.

The original date was postponed due to weather. The WMU Transfer Station will be open to accept solid waste disposal items from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5, according to a release.

A current water bill and picture identification are required to dispose of items at no cost, according to a press release. Without a matching water bill and ID, WMU will charge customers accordingly including contractors disposing of waste on behalf of a customer.

Customers must also accompany the load to the transfer station, according to the release. WMU will only accept cash and check as payment at the transfer station.

WMU does not accept:

— Paint (in liquid form)

— Propane tanks

— Lead-acid batteries

— Free liquids

— Household or other hazardous wastes

— Masonry, brick, concrete debris

— Appliances that contain or have contained Freon such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units and tanks.

Tires will be accepted at an additional charge. WMU will only take tires off the rim, according to the release.
