A Clark County mother was arrested Monday after two of her children showed severe bruising around their faces.

Crickett Moore, 28, of 1979 Jackson Ferry Road, was arrested Monday on a single count of first-degree criminal abuse related to a 1-year-old child.

Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

According to the arrest citation, Moore dropped off the 1-year-old and a 2-year-old sibling at a daycare Monday morning in Winchester. The workers at the daycare notified state social workers after finding bruises on both children.

The younger child was described as having “severe” bruises on its face and the older one had bruises on its arm and around an eye.

Moore reportedly told daycare workers the younger child had “fallen a lot.” The social workers then notified police, who began the investigation.

In an interview, the older child said her mother caused the injury to her arm.

Hall said the social workers took custody of the two children at the daycare as well as two of Moore’s other children. At this point, Moore has only been charged for the bruises to the 1-year-old, he said, but the investigation is ongoing.

Moore is being held in the Clark County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond, according to the jail website.
