George David Thacker, of Winchester, Pikeville & Lexington, Kentucky, born on June 15, 1967 in Granite City, Illinois, to the late Ollie Kathinell Kendrick Thacker and Tunis Ray Thacker, passed away at age 50 on May 7, 2018 at his home in Winchester KY.
George served in the Army from 1989 to 1992 and was a Desert Storm Veteran. George also worked for the Kroger Corporation as an order picker at Winchester Farms Dairy for the past 25 years.
George was married to his Queen Kimberly M. Thacker. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael R Thacker; grandmothers, Matilda Thacker and Victoria Kendrick; and grandfathers, George W Thacker and David Kendrick.
George is survived by his Wife Kimberly M Thacker; Father Tunis Ray Thacker, Stepson, Matthew A Hays; Stepdaughter, Linnzie N. Hays; Sister, Vickie T. Thacker; 5 Aunts; and 8 Uncles. He also leaves behind his greatly loved dog, Alley Hays Thacker.
He had a passion for fishing and serving his fellow Veterans. He was a dedicated Christian and served as an associate Pastor at Broadway Christian Church. He was honored to serve as Chaplain for Honor Flight KY, Chaplain for VFW Post 2728 for 6 years and a member of VFW Post 3769 Pikeville KY.
We would like to give special thanks to George’s in-laws Robert & Brenda Hood and family friend Nicole Arend for all of their love and support during this time. Also the teams of doctors at the VA Medical Center on Cooper Drive with special thanks to Dr. Richard O’Neal and our go to girl Georgia Bowman .
Friends and family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service Officiated by Pastor Raymond H. Smith, to be held at Central Baptist Church 101 W Lexington Ave, Winchester KY on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Visitation for Family 2:00-3:00 pm. Open Visitation 3:00-4:30 pm. Service at 4:30pm
We encourage guests to bring any special photos to be posted at the church or memory notes to be placed in a special keepsake box. Flowers are welcomed or a donation in Georges name to Honor Flight KY @ honorflightky.org for a flight that will be dedicated to him next year.
