AARP chapter met in April
AARP Chapter 632 met April 24 with 29 members and guests present. President Elizabeth Gay presided.
Following the pledge to the flag, Betty Ballard gave the invocation.
Social workers Lindsay Willoughby and Dana Conn spoke about Hospice East and gave out literature concerning several services — Winchester-Clark County transit, advance directives, Clark County Community Services, in-home health, etc. — and answered questions regarding them.
This chapter of AARP has offered tax return preparation help for seniors for approximately 35 years. This year, nine volunteers were recognized for their many hours of help with a total of 562 returns: Paul and Kaye Atkinson, Gale Clark, George Gibson, Grace Ingram (her 30th year), Connie King, Lila Omohundro, Cynthia Powell and Linda Toler.
Don Rose, Eastern Ky. Chapter specialist, then entertained the group with a humorous story, “The Snake.”
Colista Ledford gave the secretary’s report and Joyce Reffett presented the treasurer’s report.
The next AARP meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the James B. Allen Generations Center, 32 Meadow St.
Everyone 50 years or older is invited.
