A Winchester man was charged Tuesday with holding a woman against her will, choking her and forcing her to perform oral sex.

Everett Harris, 39, of 250 Oxford Drive Apt. 79, pleaded not guilty to first-degree unlawful imprisonment and first-degree sodomy Wednesday in Clark District Court. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 13.

Police are also looking for another woman who was in the apartment at the time and may have participated in the assault, Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said.

According to Winchester Police, Harris invited the woman to his apartment Tuesday afternoon.

Hall said the two were acquaintances, but there was not a romantic relationship between them.

“As soon as she got in the apartment, he got violent with her,” Hall said.

According to the arrest citation, Harris stripped her clothes off and choked her until she lost consciousness. He then took her from the bedroom to the bathroom and back to the bedroom, where he allegedly forced her to perform oral sex.

The woman was eventually able to escape and call for help, Hall said.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex, Harris was not in his apartment. After searching the building, he was located in apartment 83, and was arrested without further incident, Hall said.

While searching the apartment, detectives found Velcro restraints, digital scales and a rock of suspected crack cocaine.

Harris was additionally charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Clark District Judge Earl-Ray Neal set Harris’ bond at $50,000 cash for both cases, citing a long criminal history including several felony charges and emergency protection order violations.
