Even if you aren’t a big fan of the event’s namesake, there are plenty of reasons to come to the Beer Cheese Festival in downtown Winchester Saturday.

Now in its 10th year, the event has something for everyone.

It will showcase dozens of businesses and organizations, allow people to see what’s going on downtown, offer live music, feature children’s activities and just bring people together to have some fun.

And, oh yeah, visitors can sample more than a dozen varieties of the tasty treat that was born right here Clark County.

The event is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It is worth noting that visiting to take in the sights and sounds is absolutely free. Yes, it costs $10 if you want to sample the beer cheese and vote for your favorite but that’s still a small price to pay — especially when you consider that all the proceeds go to the important cause of revitalizing downtown.

This event directly benefits Main Street Winchester and a variety of its efforts to promote the business district, beautification efforts and economic development initiatives.

Thousands of people from outside our community are expected to attend, and that is very important. But we still need those who call Clark County home and have a special appreciation for beer cheese to come out strong and support the event.

One of the biggest complaints people make about the region is that there is nothing to do here, but that certainly won’t be the case Saturday.

See you there.
