Earl David “Chic” Chism, 86

Earl David “Chic” Chism, 86, widower of Carolyn Williams Chism, passed away on June 10, 2018 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born on July 8, 1931, to the late Vernon Giles and Dorothy Lorena Williamson Chism. He was the oldest member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Jackson Ferry Road and retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company.

Mr. Chism was a United States Veteran of the Korean War. He was proud to serve his country and was honored to be a part of the April 22, 2017 Military Honor Flight.

Chic was a member of many groups and organizations including, but not limited to, League of Kentucky Sportsmen, 6th Dirstrict Federation, Bluegrass Sportsman’s League, Clark County Fish and Game Club, Central Kentucky Coonhunter’s Association, American Trapshooters League, National Rifle Association, Sheltowee Muzzleloaders Association, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife 6th District, Kentucky Colonels and many others. He also served as district governor for the Lions Club and was the National Muzzleloaders Rifle Association state champion from 1976-1981. In addition, he was a member of Kentucky Sportsman’s League State Team Championship and was presented Sportsman of the year in 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Duane (Teresa) Chism and Robert Lee Chism; one daughter, Lisha Chism (Steve) Barnes; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Chism-Cornett, Shawna Nicole “Nicki” Chism-Wilder, Sara Leslie ( Glenn) Chism-Clark, Tabitha Maree Chism, Melanie York Lukasavage, Jessica Rachelle (Michael) Jozefowicz, Christopher Michael (Cyndi) Hickey, Zachary Carl (Chelsea) Stanfield; thirteen great grandchildren, Chloe, Harrison and Kylah Cornett, Braydon Drake Woosley, Piper Isabella Hisel, Dylan Tyler Clark, Jason Smith, Carson Phillips, Ryan Logan Jozefowicz, Jayden and Jillian Dulje, Chase Perkins, and Ezekiel Guy Stanfield; he also leaves behind a special cat named Patch.

In addition to his loving wife and parents, Chic was preceded in death by one son, David Paul Chism; daughter-in-law, Ranee Chism; and his beloved dog, Casey Murphy.

Services will be at 10:00AM, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Scobee Funeral Home. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zachary Stanfield, Nicki Wilder, Tabitha Chism, Jessica Jozefowicz, Ryan Jozefowicz and Leslie Clark.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-8:00PM at Scobee Funeral Home.
