A convicted sex offender will have to serve another 120 days in jail after pleading guilty to touching a 9-year-old girl inappropriately.

David Meek, 57, of 7 Almond St., entered his plea Monday in Clark District Court to second-degree sexual abuse, which is a misdemeanor.

Meek was sentenced to 360 days, but will only serve 120 days in jail. The balance was conditionally discharged for two years.

According to court documents, the incident occurred at a Clark County church March 30 in which Meek touched the girl’s “private” areas over her clothes in the church sanctuary. The church was not identified.

The Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry lists Meek as a registered sex offender following a federal conviction in North Carolina for two counts of attempted sodomy, three counts of sodomy of a child and six counts of indecent acts with a 9-year-old child.

Meek was listed as compliant and subject to registering his residence for the rest of his life.
