— Cool History on Hot Days, 2 to 5 p.m. at Fort Boonesborough State Park. A special program, presentation, lecture or demonstration every Saturday afternoon in air-conditioned comfort. All will relate to the history of early Kentucky, and each will be presented in the Orientation/Theater Blockhouse of the fort. MONDAY, JULY 9

— Lexington Children’s Theater “Beauty and the Beast” Playmakers workshop, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through July 13. Students work to create their own play by using contemporary literature or a theme as their source material. The class will originate their own characters, dialogue, and story. Open to ages 6 to 10. Tuition is $175.
