As prosecutors in Montgomery County wait to try Lonnie Martin for murder, so do prosecutors in Clark County.

Martin, 44 of Stanton, was to be tried in June for the 2013 death of Winchester resident Kyla Kline but it was postponed to allow attorneys to explore the technology used to lead detectives to the farm where Kline’s body was found.

Following Martin’s arrest for Kline’s death, Winchester Police detectives interviewed Martin concerning the death of his cousin Joseph B. Martin in 1995. An indictment followed, and Clark County prosecutors said they would wait for the Montgomery County case to be resolved before trying Martin here. Five years later, they are still waiting after numerous delays caused by evidence testing and changes of attorneys in his Montgomery County case.

Tuesday in Clark Circuit Court, the judge set another pre-trial conference for Sept. 6, more than a month after his next court date in Mount Sterling.

Martin remains in the Clark County Detention Center.

Joseph Martin died Oct. 29, 1995, after he fell from a Washington Street viaduct over the railroad tracks. He fell onto the tracks and was dragged by a train.
