Weekend Outlook: Weather to determine scheduled happenings

There’s a full weekend of events scheduled in Clark County, but Mother Nature may have the final say.

Thunderstorms are in the forecast for much of today and Saturday throughout the region and may curtain a number of events.

Bluegrass Community and Technical College is hosting its second Moonlight Movie Night of the summer. The free event is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the campus at 2020 Rolling Hills Lane.

This week features “The Greatest Showman,” a 2017 musical based on the life of P.T. Barnum and the creation of Barnum and Bailey Circus.

Starting at 7 p.m., the third of this year’s Rock the Block concerts is scheduled to begin in front of the Clark County Courthouse on Main Street with Kimberly Carter and Carryin’ On.

The group, fronted by Clark Family Court Judge Kimberly Walson, plays a mix of rock, country and blues music. They also serve as the house band at Waterfront Grille and Catering.

The public is welcome to bring their own chairs and picnics for the show.

Children will have the chance to learn bicycle safety and riding skills Saturday morning, and maybe win a new bicycle as well.

Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation’s sixth annual bicycle rodeo is set to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Lykins Park, 1601 Mount Sterling Road. The event is open to children ages 3 to 15. Participants should bring their own bicycle and helmet, though there will be loaners on hand. Those who pre-registered will receive a T-shirt as well.

Several bicycles will also be raffled during the event.

In case of rain, the rodeo may be rescheduled to 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 27. Parks officials said weather updates and date changes would be posted on the department’s Facebook page.
