There’s barely more than a week left before applications for this year’s Clark County Fiscal Court Foundation grants are due.

A year ago, 18 non-profit organizations received a share of the nearly $102,000 available. This year, there is $103,066.50 to be awarded, Clark County Magistrate Sheila McCord said.

Like last year, applicants must complete a six-page application which includes financial statements and the project they want to fund, she said.

Any group that received funds from the Fiscal Court Foundation in 2017 must submit an additional report detailing how those funds were used.

“The application is quite extensive,” McCord said. “It asks for quite a bit of information which helps the committee.”

Applications are due by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Application packets must be delivered by hand to Clark County Judge-Executive Henry Branham’s office in the Clark County Courthouse.

The committee then makes recommendations to the Clark County Fiscal Court on which groups will receive money.

First-time applicants are also subject to a site visit, she said.

“We will probably vet the applicants in mid-August,” she said. “We’d like to hand the checks out in September.”

In 2017, the county gave $14,250 to help fund the transit service, $17,000 for the debt service payments on the pool at Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation and $3,500 for fireworks for the community Fourth of July celebration. The rest was divided among the agencies with about $900 going to the county’s rainy day fund.
