Nancye Ruth Haggard Erwin Grigalis, 77, adamantly adored wife of Zigurds Edgar Grigalis, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 following a long-term illness but comforted throughout by loving family and friends.

A native of Pilot View, KY, she was born on July 16, 1941 to the late Clarence W. and Mae Belle Leach Haggard. A 1959 graduate of Clark County High School, she resided in Lexington, KY and attended Ashland Avenue Baptist Church and Ephesus Baptist Church in Winchester, KY.

Above all else, Nancye Ruth had no greater love than for God and family. Always ready to tell a story related to family heritage and relatives she was a loving wife and homemaker who adored her children. Unwaveringly patriotic and always proud of the long family tradition of military service dating back to pre-Revolutionary War era. Nancye and Zig were active historical preservationists dedicated to the restoration of homes and farms in upstate New York, Philadelphia, and especially the Lexington and Frankfort area. In 2006, Nancye and Zig were recognized by Kentucky Trust for Historic Preservation for the restoration of the Governor William Owsley House and John Goodman House, Frankfort, KY. Additionally, she was a former PNC bank employee and long-time office manager for Grigalis Group Architects.
