Henry Rosenthal, known to his friends as Bussie or Buzzy, age 75, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2018, at Clark Regional Medical Center.

Bussie was born on August 5, 1943 in Winchester, Ky. to Henry Lee Rosenthal, Sr. and Ada (Boone) Rosenthal.

As a boy, he loved sports, especially baseball, in which he excelled. For instance, in a 1961 game pitching for Clark County High School, Bussie pitched a no-hitter striking out nineteen of the twenty-one batters he faced.

Bussie played softball into his mid-60s and basketball until he was 70 years old.

Bussie was a graduate of Clark County High School, the University of Kentucky, and the University of Kentucky College of Law.

While at the University of Kentucky, he was the sports editor of the Kentucky Kernel, the school newspaper. Bussie liked to show off the letter he received from Adolph Rupp which stated in part, “we enjoyed having you on our southern trip and I want to thank you and the Kernel for the nice coverage you gave basketball this year.”

If Bussie had written his own obituary, it would have been more clever and better written.

Bussie practiced law in Winchester for 48 years.

For a least 35 of those years he was the attorney for the Clark County Board of Education, a position he enjoyed greatly. He also represented the Planning and Zoning Committee and was instrumental in building the new Clark County Library.

Bussie enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, golf, and cheering on the University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball team.

He also loved antiquing with his brother and best friend, Vincent, and discussing the history of his hometown, Winchester, of which he was very proud.

He loved traveling with his wife and family to places like Hilton Head, Santa Fe and Naples.

Bussie is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pat; daughter Melissa (Jim) Lintner; son Lee (Cassidy ) Rosenthal; grandchildren, Emmalee Lintner, Hallie Lintner, Will Lintner, Hope Lintner, Lydia Rosenthal, Webb Rosenthal and Elliott Rosenthal; mother Ada Rosenthal; brother Vincent (Zella) Rosenthal; brother-in-law Richard (Kim) Webb; and nieces Andra (Travis) Sewalls and children Harper and Connley and Sarah Beth (Alex) Smith and daughter Vivian.

Bussie was preceded in death by his father Henry L. Rosenthal, Sr. and brother David Lynn Rosenthal.

Visitation will be at Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home located on 289 South Main St, Winchester, Ky. 40391, on August 11, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Rosenthal Family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at The Willows at Hamburg who compassionately provided him with the care (and bourbon) he needed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Bussie’s name to the Clark County Public Library or Hospice East.
