Phyllis Ann Hatton, 75

Our beloved mother, sister and friend, Phyllis Ann Hatton, peacefully passed away on August 10, 2018, in Seymour, IN, after a long submission to Alzheimer’s.

She was born on September 19, 1942, in Winchester, KY, to the late Ray Callis Hatton and Lillian Marie Stone.

Phyllis was raised in Clark County and graduated from Clark County High School in 1961. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1965 with a degree in education and became a school teacher. She was teaching in St. Louis, MO, when she decided to stay home with her children. Phyllis was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and volunteered countless hours there. She was known for her charitable works, her nurturing of children, her kindness and compassion, as well as her delicious pies.

Phyllis is survived by three children: Susan Hamilton Meyers and her children Charles Bradley, Wesley, and Emily Meyers of Columbus, IN; daughter Alisha Hamilton Schram and her husband Jesse, of Huntsville, AL, with their children Aloysius and Rainer Schram; and son Matthew Lucas Hamilton and his wife Tiffany, of Denver, CO, with their children Adrian and Novalee Hamilton. She is also survived by her brother, Ray C. Hatton Jr. of Lafayette, LA.

Her sister, Loretta Hull, preceded her in death in October 2017.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1789 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, KY 40502, on Saturday August 18, 2018, at 1 p.m. There will be a visitation on Friday, August 17, 2018, at the same location from 6-8 p.m. She will be buried at the Lexington Cemetery next to her children who preceded her in death, Anna Elizabeth and Heath Allen Hamilton.
