Anyone is welcome to sign up and play and being a member of the commerce or the country club is not a requirement.

Executive director Cindy Banks said the goal is to bring businesses closer to one another.

“We are hoping to encourage networking from business to business,” she said. “This is the only fundraiser the chamber does. These funds go directly to leadership programs, our banquet and various programs we offer to our members and community.”

Banks said they started offering two tee times last year to help speed up the process and give participants a chance to make the most out of their day.

“Last year was great because it was the first time we offered two tee times,” she said. “It helps make play go quicker. Players have the option between 8:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Both times will make things easier on everybody. The golf course is excellent, so people really enjoy the opportunity to play there.”

The community has the opportunity to sponsor a hole to help give back to the chamber.

Winchester Insurance is the overall sponsor for the outing and they will be sponsoring hole 13.

Any player who achieves a hole-in-one on that hole will be rewarded with a new automobile.

Anyone in the community is welcome to sponsor a hole for $200.

Banks gives her thanks to those who have helped make the outing happen this year and in years past.

“I just want to send thanks to all those who have supported,” she said. “People sponsoring lunch, holes, food and everything. It takes a lot and people are willing to help. Anyone willing to give financial support can sponsor one of the holes and do a giveaway if they like. I just appreciate all the support.”

Last year, 32 teams participated and Banks is looking forward to seeing how successful the event will be this year.

The Financial Cup trophy will be presented to the best scoring bank team and the Industrial Cup will be presented to the best scoring industry.

Community Trust Bank is the defending Financial Cup holder as well as Industrial Development Authority for the Industry Cup.
