Blessing of the Backpacks at Emmanuel Episcopal

Blessing of the Backpacks will be at 10:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 2410 W. Lexington Ave. All students, teachers and school staff are welcome. Bring backpacks and briefcases for a special blessing..

Food pantry at First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church, 37 N. Highland St., will open a food pantry in partnership with God’s Pantry from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday at the church. The pantry will be open to those in need and for donations from the community. For more information, call the church at 744-6624.

Services at Salem Church at Pine Grove

School has started and hundreds of Winchester’s younger citizens are dedicating themselves to the pursuit of learning. But what does it mean to be wise in the eyes of the Lord? Hear more about it Sunday at Salem Church at Pine Grove, 312 Combs Ferry Road. Worship at the “Small Country Church with a Big Heart for Jesus” begins at 11 a.m.

Services at First Presbyterian Church

Services at First Presbyterian Church, 130 Windridge Drive, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Worship will be lively and traditional. Come dressed casual or formal, but more importantly, come expecting to be moved by the Spirit. Sunday school classes for children, youth and adults begin at 9:30 a.m. Sundays.
