CLARK COUNTY SHERIFF

Charged

— Justin Johnson, 22, of Thousandsticks, was charged Sunday with no registration plate, no insurance, no operator’s license, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

— Meardie Stidham, 41, of Hindman, was charged Sunday with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

— Brandon Morgan, 33, of Wendover, was charged Sunday with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

— Ruth Watkins, 35, of 2854 Ecton Road, was charged Sunday with driving under the influence and driving on a suspended operator’s license.

Reports

— At 10:06 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of woman walking along the Mountain Parkway. The woman told deputies she ran out of gas somewhere and slept in the woods. Deputies found a vehicle parked on the side of the Mountain Parkway with a broken window. The vehicle was reported stolen from West Virginia, but the owner did not want to press charges.

Accidents

— At 10:02 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to an injury accident on the Mountain Parkway near the 2 mile marker in which George Barnett of Jeffersonville was traveling west and lost control in the rain. His vehicle struck a guardrail. Barnett and his passenger Jennifer Rodgers were transported to Clark Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

— At 6:08 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to an injury accident on Interstate 64 near the 91 mile marker in which Austin M. Combs of Mount Sterling was traveling east when his vehicle hydroplaned. The vehicle spun off the road and struck an embankment. Combs was transported to Clark Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

— At 6:12 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to an injury accident on Interstate 64 near the 94 mile marker in which Mackenzie Schwarber of Alexandria lost control of her vehicle while avoiding a merging vehicle. Schwarber’s vehicle went off the road and overturned. One of her passengers, Alyssa Smalls of Alexandria, was transported to Clark Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

— At 6:42 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to an injury accident at 2100 Ecton Road in which Ruth L. Watkins of 2854 Ecton Road crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle before hitting a fence at 2236 Ecton Road. Watkins said she fell asleep and admitted to using meth and heroin within the last 48 hours. Watkins was transported to Clark Regional Medical Center for treatment and was later arrested. The other driver, Eric B. Rossi of 7661 Ecton Road, was not injured.

WINCHESTER FIRE-EMS

— From Friday through Sunday, EMS personnel responded to 31 general medical calls, four cardiac cases, four respiratory cases, one diabetic case, one seizure, two overdoses and one obstetric case.

— At 10:02 a.m. Friday, firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Mountain Parkway near the 1 mile marker.

— At 6:08 p.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident near the 90 mile marker on Interstate 64.

— At 6:12 p.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident near the 93 mile marker on Interstate 64.

— At 6:54 p.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident at Cabin Creek and Ecton roads.

— At 3:16 a.m. Sunday, firefighters were called to a structure fire at 2600 Basin Springs Road for mutual aid.
