A Winchester man pleaded guilty to abuse charges Thursday for injuring his infant son a year ago.

Christopher Poole, 24, of 5 Wilson Lane, was arrested in August 2017 for first-degree criminal abuse after the child was found with a foot injury and evidence of previous injuries.

Thursday, Poole pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of second-criminal abuse and agreed to a four year sentence. Poole is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 20.

In court records, Winchester Police became involved after social workers called officers to Clark Regional Medical Center. The child was being treated at the time for a foot injury but X-rays found previous injuries of a broken clavicle and rib, which had already healed.

Poole told police he did not know how the injuries occurred but said he grabbed the child by the ankle in a moment of anger because the child was pulling up the sheets on the bed.
