Harrison County Search and Rescue confirmed they located the body of a missing Winchester fisherman Thursday.

Harrison County Search and Rescue Chief Re’Jeana Craft said crews deployed boats at 8:15 a.m. on South Fork Licking River in Cynthiana. At 9:38 a.m. they located the body of 77-year-old Harold Porter Lamb of Winchester, who had been missing since Saturday.

Crews found Lamb two miles downriver from the Terry Dam.

Lamb went missing about 7:30 a.m. Saturday after his boat capsized at the start of a fishing tournament on South Fork Licking River.

Harrison County Search and Rescue crews were forced to suspend their search about 3 p.m. Saturday, Craft previously told The Sun. Flooding made it too dangerous for teams to continue searching.

Craft said teams headed back out to the river Thursday morning, joined by Harrison County Fire Department, Cynthia Fire Department, Cynthiana Police Department with drones and the Kentucky Search Dog Association dog team. Harrison County EMS and the dispatch were also on scene.

Craft told The Sun Lamb and Anthony Todd Durham, also of Winchester, were in a boat on South Fork Licking River participating in the tournament when their boat moved too close to the Terry Dam.

Lamb pulled up the boat’s trolling motor to check it. When Lamb put the motor back down, it snapped off, and he went into the water.

When the boat overturned, Durham was able to get out, but Lamb was unable to get to the shore.

Officials shut down Kentucky 3016 between U.S. 27 South and Kentucky 36 for a while Saturday to focus on searching for Lamb.

Craft said everyone involved in the search is praying for the family during this difficult time.

“We’re praying for the family and we are glad we brought them closure to the situation,” she said.
