Marco Shemwell, 4, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on August 25, 2014, to Benjamin David and Elizabeth Gilpin Shemwell. He attended preschool at Flutterby Discovery Center, and was a member of Calvary Christian Church in Winchester.
Marco had a big personality and smile that would light any room. His spirit was full of joy and captivated anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. His love for life, family and Jesus was infectious.
Marco spent most of his time playing Legos and cars with his big brother, as well as dance parties in the kitchen. Marco enjoyed music, singing and playing his guitar. He also loved Batman and Kentucky Football, always cheering for the blue team. He will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, Ben and Liz, he is survived by one brother, Maximo Shemwell; grandparents, David and Vickie Shemwell of Henderson, KY; aunts and uncles, Jim and Tamara Gilpin of Covington, KY, Kimberly and Bob Coburn of Mt. Sterling, KY and Emily and Darrell Johnson of New Albany, IN; cousins, Alex and Kayleen Coburn of Mt. Sterling, KY, Brayden Gilpin and Bailea Elkins, both of Covington, KY.
Services will be at 12:00PM, Monday, September 24, 2018 at Calvary Christian Church by Pastor Mike McCormick. Scobee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Gilpin, Bob Coburn, Darrell Johnson and David Shemwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Coach Stoops and the University of Kentucky Football Team and Coaching Staff, officers Montoya and Taylor and other members of the UK Police Department, UK Health Care and PICU team and all other first responders who helped in the families’ time of need.
Visitation will be from 4:30-8:30PM, Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Calvary Christian Church.
