A vote for McGrath is a vote for a military mindset

The United States has become a nation of war.

The country is now engaged in the longest-running war in its history. For 17 years we’ve been locked in battle in various places in the Middle East, before that southeastern Europe, before that Kuwait.

I work with college students who cannot recall a time when their country was at peace. For decades Obama and Bush and Cheney and Clinton and Bush again have squandered American blood and American treasure about as far from home as we can send it.

The stock market soars. War has been a bonanza for Boeing, Bechtel and Brown & Root. For your pocketbook or my wallet? Not nearly as good.

Now the powers that be want me to send a representative of the military-industrial complex to Congress. If I understand the symbology of her campaign logo — her product branding, she identifies as Amy Warplane McGrath.

To me, a vote for the Warplane is a vote in support of the military mindset, of incursion and invasion and I’ve had my fill of that. Let’s get U.S. troops out of the Middle East and let God sort it out.

As for the Warplane? Thank you for your service, Amy. May peace be with you. Now go home.
