A Winchester man accused of shooting a woman at a local auto repair shop has been indicted.

Clarence Reynolds, 25, was indicted Wednesday by the Clark County grand jury on charges of second-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and persistent felony offender.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Aug. 10 in which Reynold allegedly shot 22-year-old Megan Griffin at M&W Auto Repair on Highland Street.

Winchester Police previously said the two were in a verbal dispute when witnesses heard a gunshot and Reynolds fled the scene.

Griffin went to the nearby Washington Street Apartments, where she received medical treatment from residents. Initially, police only had a photo of Griffin’s wound as she fled Winchester following the incident.

Police searched for Griffin for two weeks before she was arrested Aug. 25 on a warrant from another county.

The wound proved to be less serious than originally thought. Winchester Police detective Dennis Briscoe testified in August the wound was small and possibly just a “nick” from a bullet fragment.

Briscoe also said officers were initially called to a residence on Oxford Drive concerning the shooting, and were told it occurred at M&W Auto Repair, 1 N. Highland St.

While searching the scene, detectives found a drop of blood and 9 mm handgun, which was hidden underneath a tire.

Griffin told police she was sitting on the ground when Reynolds called her an expletive, pulled the gun and fired at her. Briscoe said he did not know if the bullet struck the garage floor or not.

“We believe they had a past relationship,” Winchester Police Capt. James Hall previously said of Reynolds and Griffin. “We think she’s with someone else and that’s what upset him.”

According to the indictment, Reynolds had previously been convicted of second-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence in a 2014 case.

The grand jury also returned the following indictments:

— Terehya Lewis, 23, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense, less than 4 grams of cocaine), trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense, heroin), second-degree possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and first-degree promoting contraband.

— Tiffany Pointer, 30, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (more than 2 grams of methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense, less than 20 units of Xanax), second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense, more than 20 units of Xanax) and persistent felony offender.

— Aaron Jones, 33, criminal attempt to commit second-degree burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense, methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense, methamphetamine) and fleeing or evading police.

— Kim Dearing, 47, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (second offense, methamphetamine), tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and persistent felony offender.

— Tommy Martin, 62, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (second or greater offense, less than 2 grams of meth), tampering with physical evidence and persistent felony offender.

— Charles Saylor, 43, second-degree escape and persistent felony offender.
