Election Day is about a month away and things are picking up more speed.

Absentee voting opened Tuesday, and Clark County Clerk Michelle Turner said about 20 people had already voted by mid-afternoon.

Registered voters will be able to vote absentee on a separate machine at the Clark County Courthouse, but only after filling out an application.

To vote absentee, applicants must be elderly, disabled or out of the county on Election Day, which is Nov. 6.

Mail-in applications must be received in Turner’s office by Oct. 30, though people will be able to fill out an application in Turner’s office and vote that day until Nov. 5, she said.

Tuesday was also the final day to register to vote in the November election, which includes most city and county offices, state representatives, state senate and two judicial races in Clark County.

There should be little change on Election Day itself, she said, as all voting precincts will remain in their previous locations. The only change is the McClure and Sunset precincts will be relocated within the former Hannah McClure Elementary School to provide easier access for voters, she said. The precincts will be moved to the back of the building where there is more parking and better access.
